Leaving DeviantArt (with link)

Edit: here's my new blog address. i'll hopefully have stuff up soon! [link]

i've been mulling it around for a while, and i've decided that updating and checking my DA account has become really boring and tedious over the past year. i've been here since 2003, and six years is a long time to be on one website, especially one so full of bullshit that it's a real rarity that good artists get appreciated- and i don't mean myself, i mean ACTUALLY good artists. it's depressing to see people with talent and potential post here, hoping for genuine feedback and response, and get absolutely nothing. it's also pretty inconvenient for a person such as myself, who's moving away from finished artwork to animated shorts and sketches (not that my bullshit is ever really finished, but you know what i mean) and i have to be part of some exclusive "club" on DA just to post my animations.

i've only really made one or two "good" friends on DeviantArt, but there are plenty of really great people here who i'm proud to have met and collaborated with in the past. I hope that I can stay in touch with those people in the future, and i hope they know that they have been a tremendously good influence on my work the past six years. to the rest of the people who continued to this day, to watch me or favorite my shitty work from years ago just because it was fanart, i think you're the people that i wanna get away from the most. i mean it's flattering, but then again, it's not. this isn't directed at anyone in particular, especially since most likely those kind of people won't even bother reading this journal. READING?? WHAT'S THAT DURP

My closest friend for the past two years on this site has been :icontaeshilh: who has given me great advice, insight, and critique in the time that i've known her. she's also improved immensely since two years, but that should be credited to her great talent and strive. besties~

basically, i'm going to start a blog, which is where i'll post all my art and animations from now on. as for this account, i will probably find some way to compile all my old work and put it in a new place. even though it's embarrassing, i feel like my old shit is a good insight into my development as an artist, and it provides good laughs at how bad it is. so yea, i'll figure it out.

for now, my twitter is: [link]

i'll be back at some point to post a link to my blog. bye everyone!

soooo... i'm nervous for my review board. i only did half time studio this semester, but last semester i chose two reviewers at random and ended up with fucking TOUGH teachers. like, it was obvious they were really smart talented folks, but i guess that wasn't really good combined with my very amateurish oil paintings, not to mention how little work i had produced between my classes. they pretty much grilled me about my insubstantial work and my derivative style. they had good points and i didn't try to argue, but i still had four credits withheld. i don't want that to happen again! i'm behind six credits now and i really hope i can earn some of them back with the work i've produced this time. i'm thinking i might also pin up a bunch of frames from my animation around the room to give the effect of more work than it is. HOORAY FOR CHEATING.

not that it's actually cheating, of course. i guess i can understand the whole aspect of arranging our art being really important to judging it, but i can't say i approve of bribing our reviewers with donuts and coffee. we're told it's a good idea to bring stuff in, but it's meant to like...sway their decisions. WHATEVER I DUNNO. maybe i'll make cookies.

i forgot to mention (not that anyone cares), i've been cooking lately! i've made meatloaf, shrimp with linguine, and gazpacho. the gazpacho is goddamn delicious and if anyone wants, i can send you the recipe. it's super easy to make, and cheap.

well, laterrrrr.
